Omlab develops biocircular starter homes for swallows (Martin) and for bats of all sizes. And in due course for people? Core team ‘Ertho’ has now started the exploration. Ertho is old Germanic for earth.

First model of Ertho by Eco-Architects.
Ertho consists of Eco-Architects, chain director Kiemt and Krimppp (biobased activity and development center), InnoFields (construction and test location), Soil Valley and Omlab.
Ertho will organize sessions with invited guests on Wednesday, May 15 and June 5, 2024.

Omlab visits Wasp, Italy in the Summer of 2023.
It is a matter of time before 3D printing technology will play a greater role in the construction sector, saw initiator Eco-Architects. The first habitable home made of 3D printed concrete has been available for several years. But research into the biobased version has not yet been done. In the context of fully circular construction by 2050, it is high time to start that research. So: Ertho.
Omlab has been playing with the idea of scaling up nature-friendly starter homes for people for some time.
For the jury of the Dutch Design Award, this vision was partly the reason to nominate Omlab for the annual design prize in 2023 (jury report). “3D printing with this type of material is not self-evident. Omlab shares the knowledge from their smartly developed process, which activates other designers to start working with this production method. This means that the starter homes are also the start for larger projects with this material. Their expertise and the light-heartedness of this project are infectious.”
Omlab visited Wasp (Italy) in the summer of 2023. Wasp is a very innovative company working on both 3D printers and examples of pavilions made of earth or sand.
